According to the anthropology museum display at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, the beehive ovens were adopted by the Pueblo people from the Spanish.The Spanish, in turn, adopted the ovens from the Muslims in the era when the Muslims ruled a portion of Spain. So apparently the Pueblo people are baking their bread in beehive ovens that originated in the Middle East.
